Flanking Syd are the ladies from Balan Graphics, the Valley Stream print shop, who sweated – but never swore (at least not in our hearing) – as they toiled to get the paper out EVERY Tuesday. Never missed!
That feat drew deserved applause, long and loud, from the purchasers of Variety in 1987.
But for many years before that the applause was louder and more sustained from Variety readers who also voted with their money.
