AMONG THE WORLD’s best-groomed beaches (right), the sands along the Croisette were carefully sifted each morning, then raked into attractive patterns, yet another Riviera showcase for the festival gliterati – easy and generally willing targets for the hungry paparazzi. Unverified stories made the rounds of fabulous morning-after finds of baubles by the sifters, among scattered champagne corks in these privileged sands.
